Congratulations to Year 9 student and Junior Music Captain Jordan Doidge for his outstanding contribution to the community this year! Jordan competed in the Australian National Band Championships over the Easter break in Adelaide, performing with the Hyde Street Youth Band on Euphonium in the Junior Brass Band section.
Jordan’s strong community spirit saw him make a fantastic contribution to ANZAC Day services as well. Jordan represented VUSC and did a reading at the Dawn Service; he then participated in a March from Flinders Street Station to the Shrine with the Hyde Street Youth Band playing “Waltzing Matilda” and “Pack up your Troubles”.
Then in October, Jordan represented the school at the Victorian Bands League State Solo Championship. This is the first time that VUSC has had a student compete in this event. Jordan placed a fantastic 2nd in the U15 Trombone and 4th in the U15 Euphonium.
In November, Jordan represented VUSC at the Caroline Springs RSL’s Remembrance Day service which he attended with his grandparents.
Well done Jordan, we are very proud of you!
