On Wednesday 23rd March, Ms Hazim, Mr Dowie and some of our teachers attended the Western Chances Scholarship Award event. Western Chances is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to students in the western suburbs of Melbourne to complete their education journey from school to further education and training. The support includes both financial support and connection to opportunities provided by the very broad network of Western Chances. As expressed by the scholarship recipients themselves this support helps them to build their self-confidence and relieves the financial barriers to completing their education.
VUSC students were well represented amongst the scholarship recipients who attended the event. The keynote speaker was a young woman who had attended Sunshine College and is now a forensic accountant with PWC managing a team and about to head off to work in New York with PWC.
It is an inspiring event and confirms how skilled and talented our students are!
Congratulations to all our students who received a scholarship this year.
VUSC was acknowledged with the Helen Worladge Award to recognise our enormous efforts in nominating over 50 students this year. Attached is a picture of our staff receiving the award.
Thank you to Kristy Muratore, Dianne Howard and Colleen Lynch for accepting the award on behalf of the College and for all your support for this important work!
